British Council

So I've finally watched a movie at a film festival! Make that three - three(?) European movies with subtitles, no entry fare, half empty auditorium, long-haired guys, foreigners, smoking chicks, the works...

First up was 'Honey & Wine' from Cyprus (can't find its Cypriot name or any link) about two lonely women finding solace in each other's company. It was almost interminably slow (even for me) and put Seal to sleep.

Then came The Warrior, an Irrfan Khan starrer about an executioner in Rajasthan's desert land trying to wash the blood off his hands, and eventually .... Not sure how this movie qualifies for a European FF though - go research!

Last and the best of the day was Äideistä parhain (Mother of Mine) from Finland about a Finnish war child, his two mothers and the love, separation and rejection (in different orders for different moms) that WWII inflicts upon them.

I'm going back for more during the week. And Happy Birthday, Mom!

Update: The official site for the European Film Festival 2007 with schedule and movie synopses is here.

Fast Food City

They are luvving it! Bangalore's own fast food eat outs have been around for a long time now, serving up deliciosa south Indian food at very affordable rates. Gimme a darshini any day over the samosa-aloo tiki-puchka types of the north ;).

Trident Hilton

This is the rather spectacular sight that greets you as you enter the Trident Hilton Gurgaon - fires glowing over water flowing. An Italian buffet at the multi cuisine Cilantro cost us Rs.1595/- only per head. But it was good food.
