Ant-mole-hill

This isn't yet a hill, and probably will never be, and we don't want to make a mountain out of a mole-hill.

Mall #2: Grand Mall

Posted by Picasa

The malls of Gurgaon, at least for those who can afford them, form the redeeming feature of a city otherwise characterised by filth and ugly concrete structures. This is Grand Mall, and it houses a Landmark bookstore, which should bring in the crowd, or probably not: I'm not sure how literate Gurgaonites are!

Basil Chicken...

... with steamed rice. The N70's camera has fixed focus. It has a macro mode in which the focus is again fixed. This picture is slightly out of focus coz it's not at that particular fixed distance. And yes, the food was good!

The Bristol

Posted by Picasa

'The Bristol' is situated strategically near the entrance to Gurgaon and is probably the city's oldest high-end hotel. I am no local and cannot offer you more dope on the place but the food was good the one time I was there, for a company event.

Diwali Mela

Posted by Picasa

Diwali is still a few days off but we had this little mela where we live: stalls selling food, clothes, handicrafts, trinkets, etc., dance contests, quizzes and performances on the main stage... you get the idea :).

Great Delhi Run

Posted by Picasa

Yay, I was there... running the 7km Great Delhi Run, part of the Hutch Delhi Half-Marathon event. Ok, so it took place in Delhi and not Gurgaon, but there were lots of Gurgaonites taking part. This is the only picture I took during our run, but do check out pre and post run pictures here.

The Mansions of the Gods

Posted by Picasa

Gurgaon's full of apartment complexes with the most creative of names like Exclusive Floors, Essel Towers and Maple Heights. But no one's yet drawn inspiration from the Romans.

And Then There Were Ten!

Posted by Picasa

Number 10 is out of view but yes, there were ten passengers on this auto-rickshaw, with room to spare for another 3, I reckon :). And that's not including the driver. Guess my number?

Silver Fruit Upon Silver Trees

Posted by Picasa

Yesterday, I've been reliably informed, was Sharad purnima. Sharad ritu is one of the six traditional Indian ritus or seasons. Purnima is Indian for full moon. And Sharad Purnima is special coz it's the brightest purnima of them all! I don't think you can see, but there *are* trees in the picture, and appropriately, they are silver oaks.
